Are we just now seeing the true costs of this horrible piece of legislation? Allen Barton and the Front Page regulars discuss. See more at www.pjtv.com

I’m from Canada. the wait times he quotes are BS. With universal health care available to all in Canada, wouldn’t you think we would be bankrupt. How come USA is the bankrupt one?

  2. vandreadparty

I don’t know who on this around that table is the dumbest, really six months for a cat scan in Canada really where did he get that statistic from straight out of his ass.

  3. g00se99

Im from canada. Give it more time. Wait times can be very long. The fed govt is now pushing health costs down to the provinces because they know our system is not sustainable.

  4. Matt Allen

@warminster100 we’re bankrupt because our money is going in every possible direction, endless wars, foreign aid, massive entitlement programs that are killing this country…

how long do you wait for medical care? If I am sick today, I call and get an appointment today or maybe this week at the latest. I have to have an operation and I got it that day….. Please explain your times and how it works…

  6. RosserppO

BS bud I’m also from Canada and you wanna talk about wait times?

July 2010 – booked an appointment with my family doctor about my hand (referral to neurologist)
late August 2010 – meet neurologist (EEG test)
September 2010 another appointment with neurologist (books MRI)
    October 2010 – have MRI
November 2010 – get results of MRI
    February 2011 – second MRI
March 2011 – find out results (he can’t figure it out)

Go to United States, found out in less than a month (6 appointments)

What I find so godamn offensive about Ocare is he just straight up lied to us! This law was passed using the worst kind of politics. It’s unpopular but what really gets me is Obama’s Gaul. Of course the MSM won’t challenge him on anything and cons are called racists as a distraction. Man I’m worried about this country. This is what tyranny looks like.

  8. TWSceptic

I’m still not sure who is the most evil villain, Obama or Osama. At least the latter one didn’t lie to his own people, didn’t steal their money, didn’t act like he was a good guy while he killed thousands.

  9. TWSceptic

They’re all 1000 times smarter than you’ll ever be. I lived in both Canada and Europe, I know what they’re talking about. The current crisis in Europe is a direct consequence of socialism. Start using your brain instead of blindly following liberal/democrat bullshit.

can i just say tht as some one who moved from the UK to switzerland (goverment healthcare to privarte) the swiss health care was more effiecent and better quality. in the privarte system its made too fit you. i had cancer and if i needed an op or another round of chemo or a biopsie it was done the very next day, my grandad has cancer and he has to wait weeks and sometimes months for anything to get done.

Doctors in Canada get payed A LOT! I wish the government would drop their salaries a bit. Unless the doctor is a surgeon or some type of specialist… DON’T pay the doctor $500,000 a year [sigh].

MILLIONS of dollars could be diverted to educate new DECENT (not extravagant) doctors at government expense.

  12. brad9033

You talk about returning to health care as an individual’s responsibility. There is no medical side of that relationship. Family doctors, hospitals, emergency rooms — all are base on the premise of the insured patient, on insurance scheduled services. There is no mechanism for a cash-basis doctor visit, let alone diagnosis without insurance guidelines for screening and diagnostic services.

Speak to my Canadian friend who lives in the States and prefers American healthcare because her 84 year old mother was told on a visit back to Canada that they wouldn’t treat her because she was to old and it would have been too expensive.

  14. OmegaRage

Yes, and why don’t they give it to everybody, how about all 350 million of the population in the States? They why don’t they give everybody free cars, then free housing? Then free water, free clothing. And then, nobody would have to work and tax revenue would be gone and then China, the liquidators of America, would arrive and change the locks on everyone’s houses.

  15. OmegaRage

Healthcare is not going to stop people from spreading diseases. Outbreaks of diseases will happen no matter whether or not you have healthcare or not.

  16. OmegaRage

“there are buses that have low fair” I don’t know about you, but my life is much more efficient in a car which I pay for if I need to visit a relative or somebody whether that be in the middle of the night due to an emergency or is somewhere remote where there are no bus routes.

  17. OmegaRage

And you still get it. If you are poor, why don’t just get MEDICAID? That’s free health care. If you are employed, you’re employer pays for your healthcare. If you old, why don’t you get MEDICARE?

  18. OmegaRage

“It won’t stop all diseases, but it will stifle them.” We have government subsidised healthcare in Australia, and you in that states don’t have diseases running rampant there that we don’t.

  19. OmegaRage

And by the way, you keep going on about how your college give’s people food and shelter for free. It’s not free. It comes it of your fee that you pay.

  20. Deadcrows1981

Nothing is truely free. When you give you must take, when you take you must give. When the economy is bad, we have less to give out. If government actualy stayed out of the private sector, more and more and more money that is naturally circulated, would find so many ways into the government as taxes. One business thrives, hundreds then have jobs to contribute. Too bad Obama and his socialist agenda just want to entice us with “free” and the whole “let someone else pay for it”

  21. Mrinebriation

great you can afford it so god bless, but if you cant wait times are better than being in debt for the rest of your life. also i had a neurological problem and i was not diagnostics with for 2 months ago even though i was seeing a doctor in the us for almost every week for 2 months, my family finally sent me to a German hospital and they figured out whats wrong with me in 3 weeks

  22. Mrinebriation

the reporter proclaims that the CBO budget shows a 1.76 trillion dollar cost to Obamacare, which he says is nearly double Obama’s original claim of around 900 billion. The problem here is that his cost is a gross cost- it doesn’t take into account offsetting revenue and spending reductions which would bring the cost down to ~1 trillion which is what the non partisan sources are reporting. Seems like a misleading statement on the reporter’s part

  23. RosserppO

I didn’t have to pay, I have full coverage in the US, but that’s besides the point. My point was this, just because it is free doesn’t mean its good. Sure, you don’t go in debt but you pay for it in other ways (taxes at 13% on everything). I’d rather pay a monthly premium that gives me access to great health care than pay for it indirectly and wait forever.

Side note, my dads had slipped disks in his back for years and it took two years for him to see a specialist!

  24. Mrinebriation

you are right but they are people out there who can not afford full coverage and if you can, as i said, god bless. when my MRI showed odd results the doctors in america could not do figured out what was wrong so i went to germany a country that has universal health care and PAYED for the best health care they can offer and they gave to me, just because a country has universal healthcare that does not mean people who can afford better health care wont be able to use it

  25. Jeff Torres

It’s interesting how healthcare has nothing to do with economics. If you look at every sector the govt has tried to control, from agriculture to industry, you can expect shortages and unnecessary surpluses, input goes up and output goes down, etc. Except for govt healthcare, which you rarely find reports condemning, unless the problem becomes so apparent that the govt has to acknowledge it, otherwise it’s completely ignored.

  26. kimberly4064

According to newshealth, approximately 6 million Americans each year flock abroad for affordable medical and or dentistry. Most of the Americans taking this risk are either uninsured or underinsured. Way too many are being butchered by unqualified doctors in 3rd world countries. Please click on my u-tube name and watch my brief powerful true story ” medical tourism Nightmare in San Jose Costa Rica ” . I have no political reasons for this video but, I do hope it will save millions of people !

  27. SpellboundSolution

You get to see the results of your MRI scan? Lucky bastard! I waited months to get my medical records only to find it was worthless paperwork with a letter saying x-rays and scan images need to be ordered separately. Honestly anyone in America reading this, please don’t do this to yourselves.

  28. DuaneEH

HUGE issue with the statement that government provided health care will be equal, that we will all get the same care. B.S. of the highest, and stinkiest, order. You think politicians will get the EXACT SAME health care as you and I? B.S. You think George Clooney will get the EXACT SAME healthcare as you and I? B.S. You think there won’t be exceptions and waivers and disclaimers and corruption and people needlessly suffering? Then you’re an idiot.

  29. RosserppO

I know what your saying about the x-rays, they had them put onto a disk and I gave them to the doctor in the US. Sure, its great that costs are kept down for health care, however, you get what you pay for, and there is no doubt the quality of Canada’s system is much worse than the US.

Everybody who argued against Obamacare knew this was going to happen.

Everybody who argued for Obamacare was deep into the propaganda espoused by the Whitehouse and blinded by their own ideological dogma.

  31. Zombie1Boy

Btw, its easy for people who are rich and successful and have a decent job to tell people to take individual responsibility!

It is alot harder for people who are struggling to get by in their shitty lives to be responsible for putting themselves into their own mess. This is why people find the need to take up the “noble cause” of providing universal healthcare for the “even worse off”! It is to validate one’s own existence and give oneself meaning in an otherwise mundane and boring life.

Republican Field Head to Head Polling VS Obama
*data from Real Clear Politics (dot) com

Romney: 34 months worth of polling (154 polls total)
    29 wins, 18 ties, 107 losses = 18.83% winning percentage
Averages losing to Obama by 5.0%

Santorum: 7 months worth of polling (29 polls total)
    2 wins, 0 ties, 23 losses = 6.90% winning percentage
Averages losing to Obama by 5.9%

Any candidate other than Romney is an easy win for Obama.

  34. miturbinesdurti

    Google “Operation Hilarity”.

The Democrats are pulling a “Vote for the Worst” stunt (a’la American Idol) with the open primaries. Do not fall for the gains in the polls for Santorum or any wins for Santorum in open primaries. They are suckering us into nominating the weaker candidate. They fear an Obama re-election fight against Romney.

Santorum knows about “Operation Hilarity”. Out of pure narcissism he is playing along.
